    韓戰時，黃海道延白郡的居民們暫時逃難至喬桐島，戰後卻因漢江河口成為分界線，而無法重回故鄉。這些居民為維持生計，重現了故鄉延白市場的樣貌，而這樣的巷弄市場，便成為如今的喬桐島大龍市場。50多年來，大龍市場皆是喬桐島經濟發展的中心，但當初成立市場的失鄉長輩們現在多已過世，人口急遽減少，市場的規模也大幅縮減。

    2014年7月，隨著喬桐大橋的通車，彷彿1960年代佈景的大龍市場便成為觀光客的必訪景點，市場迎來轉機。自2017年3月底起，在大龍市場入口處的喬桐GiGA Island(又名「喬桐燕巢」)開始營運，向觀光客提供以IT技術為基礎的觀光導覽，以及自行車、智慧型手錶的租借服務，並備有「VR影像體驗」、「喬桐報紙製作」等各種體驗項目，使遊覽大龍市場變得更加便利而有趣。
