光州世界盃體育場透過周邊觀眾出入口與地板鋪設方式採放射型設計，以及造景設施的排列，使圓型體育場採光十分充足，具體呈現光州光之鄉的形象。體育場用來支撐頂棚的柱子呈Y字型，整個頂棚與柱子象徵了光州的傳統民俗遊藝鬥鼓繩套遊戲。特別是東西兩側相對的頂棚，像極了遊戲中對峙的雙方。此外，在這座能容納4萬多名觀眾觀看比賽的足球場內，還設有多媒體中心、選手休息室、通信與醫療設施，以及能提供高品質服務的各種附屬設施，能同時滿足選手與觀眾的需求。

    光州廣域市念珠綜合體育館是1987年開館的室內體育館，可舉行排球、籃球、手球、羽球等各種競賽。腹地面積6萬1,785平方公尺，建築總面積2萬2,441平方公尺，為地上5層樓高的建築。運動場面積1,814平方公尺，觀眾席面積6,707平方公尺，共可容納9,100人。以念珠綜合體育館為中心，附近有光州世界盃體育場、室內游泳池、室內溜冰場等各種體育設施。此外，這裡也有遊戲廣場與休息公園等設施。目前念珠綜合體育館為韓國女子排球Pepper儲蓄銀行AI PEPPERS的主球場。
